Get ready to ride, run & cheer!
The Electric City Classic, a project of Scranton Tomorrow, presented by Geisinger, rolls into Scranton on Saturday and Sunday, August 19 & 20. Admission is free all weekend, and there are plenty of opportunities for everyone in the community to participate — on bike, and foot! From cheering on competitors in Big Wheel Wars to races for novices and experienced riders (with USA Cycling licenses), there are categories for every age and skill level.
Saturday, August 19th, the main event features professional cycling at its best! Pros from around the world will navigate a highly-technical course at speeds up to 45 mph through the streets of downtown Scranton. This year’s race has been designated as the Pennsylvania State Criterium Championship. All categories will race for the state championship* from Novice to Pro!
The fun continues on Sunday, August 20th, with the Electric City Classic Hill Climb, a short, but challenging, cycling sprint up Olive Street (between Taylor and Prescott Avenues) in the Hill section of Scranton. Original, exposed bricks at the top of the hill are a bonus for those brave enough to take on this steep, historic hill.
Scranton Running Company presents the Electric City Classic 1-mile Dash to jumpstart the day if you prefer to sprint on foot instead of two wheels.
2021 was a blast, and we can’t wait to see you back for 2023!
