Electric City Classic Crit

Hundreds of cyclists. Thousands of spectators. Unlimited healthy fun!

–  2022 PA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT  –

In 2019 Scranton Tomorrow hosted the City of Scranton’s first professional cycling race in the downtown business district — the Electric City Classic! In 2022, we return to Downtown on Saturday, August 27th as the Pennsylvania State Criterium Championships!

The Electric City Classic is a Criterium. Known as a “Crit” in cycling communities, the event is a race on a short-circuit course where cyclists complete multiple laps. Downtown Scranton’s unique layout, wide streets, and beautiful architecture make this an ideal place to showcase hundreds of athletes racing on bikes at speeds up to 40-miles per hour, just inches away from each other. Thousands of fans cheer racers on as they whisk past them every 90 seconds jockeying for position.

The Electric City Classic attracts professional athletes from across the country and around the world. Some compete as individuals, while others race on teams. Crits are especially fun for spectators because no other sporting event allows them to get closer to professional athletes.
